Georgia Art Education Association
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for helping North Gwinnett High School and the GAEA with our 2007 "Faces of Art" billboard. Everyone was so excited when they found out we were getting the billboard especially the art students who were chosen to showcase their work on the board. Like most high schools, activities such as Sports and Band & Orchestra get the majority of attention and publicity too. I received several phone calls from other art teachers in the county, as well as parent and community response. My students have shown more motivation and excitement because of the billboard ad and we even had an article in the Gwinnett Daily Post and the billboard was seen on 11 Alive News when our visual art team was selected as the 11 Alive News Class Act Teachers!
Overall, I feel the billboard advertisement was a great success in helping us to achieve immediate awareness in our county. This additional awareness will hopefully motive more creative students in the area to pursue art. Hopefully it will also help spread the news about the importance of art programs. The arts build creative and cognitive thinkers! That is why the GAEA offered this wonderful scholarship in the first place, to help us advocate for the importance of art education to a large audience!
Once again, we would like to thank the Market Manager and Olympus Media for helping us with a successful Outdoor Campaign. We plan to use Olympus in 2008 and are hoping to be able to utilize the new LED Digital technology for this year's 2008 GAEA Professional Learning Conference in Athens.
